Hazel & Tom's Flower Farm: A Perfect Pairing with Bloom Coffee
There are few things more magical than spending a day with two incredibly talented and creative individuals who are not only passionate about their craft but also deeply connected to the land they work. Tom and Hazel, two flower farmers from South Wales, are exactly that. We had the privilege of visiting their 'Hazel Meadow Flowers' micro-farms—one nestled in the picturesque Pontyberem and their new plot in Nantycaws, complete with a hand-built second-hand polytunnel. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the sounds of birds singing and the gentle warmth of the sun, finally making its long-awaited appearance to greet spring.

As we strolled through their land, we learned about the meticulous and thoughtful process that goes into being a flower farmers in Wales. With the spring season just beginning to unfold, we saw Tom and Hazel preparing the land and planting hardy seasonal flowers that thrive in the Welsh climate. Daffodils and tulips were just on the verge of blooming, a vivid reminder of nature's cyclical beauty. Their careful attention to detail and deep respect for the environment was evident in every corner of their land.

But what struck us most was the genuine passion they have for their craft. Tom and Hazel’s love for working with natural materials isn’t limited to gardening and planting; it’s a lifestyle that extends to everything they do—from selling at local markets to creating beautiful structures like their hand-built polytunnel. Every project, every plant and every interaction is infused with their creativity, skill and a true sense of connection to the land.

At their second site in Nantycaws, we got a glimpse of their exciting plans for the future. As we walked through their field, we also got a sneak peek into their future aspirations—a wildflower field, hundreds of blush and peachy roses, oak and birch trees and even a potential pump track for Tom - a well-deserved reward for helping Hazel make her flower dreams come true.
One of the most heartwarming moments of the day was learning that some of the seeds they plant are from Tom’s grandmother's garden. These heirloom flowers have been passed down through generations, a testament to the nurturing care and love that goes into growing something truly beautiful. It’s a powerful reminder that, just like these seeds, Hazel Meadow Flowers story has blossomed and continues to grow—offering new adventures with each season.

This year, they’re thrilled to be providing local flowers for beautiful brides, special events and maybe even your local deli. With every stem and petal, they continue to share the beauty of South Wales with their community. So, if you're lucky enough, keep an eye out for their blooms and don’t forget to follow them on Instagram to see where their flowers will pop up next.

The connection between the flowers they grow and the coffee we source felt like a natural harmony. It’s about patience, care and a deep respect for what nature provides. We can’t wait to return as the flowers reach their full bloom this spring and see how their season unfolds. In the meantime, we’re excited to share Bloom with you—an heirloom coffee that brings the best of Ethiopia’s coffee-growing traditions into your cup.
Tom and Hazel’s journey is a beautiful reminder of the power of nature, Hazel Meadow Flowers is still unfolding and we can’t wait to see what the next season brings.
