Howies Spud Run 2019
We were excited to joined forces with Howies in June for this year's Spud Run down the stunning coastal paths of Marloes Sands in Pembrokeshire. The weather was on our side and the turnout of runners from all parts of wales and further afield made for an exciting and rewarding day by the beach for all.
This 10k course took advantage of the unique and undulating landscape of the Pembrokeshire cost with salts trots across the beach of Marloes Sands, followed by tight single track sections, steep climbs and a number of traitorous rocky stints that would prove a challenge to even the most experienced of cross country runners.
The Spud Run was open to runners of all abilities; from first time joggers to club experts, all with the goal of having fun, with first place winning a 20kg bag of Trehill Farm Potatoes. What better prize for an athletic event than a massive bag of carbs!
Coaltown's role in this 'spudtacular' day was to provide much needed refreshments to the weary runners upon completion of the course, and what better way to supply a pick-me-up than with freshly brewed Black Gold? We really enjoyed meeting all the participants, discussing all things coffee and sharing some home brew tips with the many coffee enthusiasts.
