At Coaltown, we are committed to delivering the best coffee experience to our customers. However, like many businesses, we’ve seen the price of coffee fluctuate due to various factors affecting the global market. While we can’t control the price of coffee itself, we are actively exploring ways to ensure that you still get the best value while maintaining the high standards you’ve come to expect from us.

The coffee market has been facing increased pressure in recent months. From poor harvests due to climate change to rising production and transportation costs, the price of coffee has been steadily climbing. According to recent reports, global coffee prices have surged by over 130% in the past year alone, as supply chain disruptions continue to affect both farmers and roasters. As a result, these changes have trickled down to businesses like ours and ultimately, to you, our valued customer.

While we cannot control these shifts, we want to assure you that we’re doing everything we can to offset these costs where possible without compromising the quality of our products.

At Coaltown, we’re not only focusing on the price of coffee but also actively reviewing our operations to find ways to reduce and offset any additional costs. One area where we’ve made significant improvements is in our shipping and packaging processes. Shipping costs are one of the areas where we have the most flexibility and we're working hard to keep those expenses as low as possible. With the new Royal Mail retail rates coming into effect, here’s a quick comparison of what shipping will look like now:

Old Royal Mail Retail Rates:

-Tracked 48 Parcel (200g - 2kg): £4.99

New Royal Mail Retail Rates:

-Tracked 48 Envelope (up to 200g): £3.00

-Tracked 24 Envelope (up to 200g): £4.00

-Tracked 48 Parcel (200g - 2kg): £3.50

-Tracked 24 Parcel (200g - 2kg): £4.50

Good News:

-All orders over £25 will continue to benefit from FREE Tracked 48 Parcel shipping!

These new rates have been implemented already and we are confident that they will help us keep shipping affordable while maintaining the excellent service you expect.

In addition to optimising our shipping, we are also making changes in our production area. We’re constantly looking for ways to streamline our operations, reduce packaging costs and cut down on time-consuming processes. By becoming more agile in our production, we are ensuring that we’re making the most efficient use of our resources. This not only helps reduce costs, but it also minimises waste, benefiting both the environment and your wallet.

We believe in making every step of the process more sustainable. That’s why we print all our labels in-house, cutting down on unnecessary waste from external label manufacturers. Plus, we’ve transitioned to a letterbox-friendly format that helps reduce packaging costs while ensuring your coffee arrives in perfect condition.
